DemiCare+: Preventing depression in informal caregivers of people with dementia

The DemiCare+ project focus is to implement an integrated solution for preventing depression in informal caregivers of people with dementia.

DemiCare+

The DemiCare+ project focus is to implement an integrated solution for preventing depression in informal caregivers of people with dementia. DemiCare+ aims to provide a holistic approach for assessing and supporting caregiver resilience.

The project will be based on the personalized information and training offer of the existing DemiCare app. This fully automated self-help preventive intervention provides information on how to deal with behavioural problems of people with dementia and aims to increase caregiving competency.

The existing personalized prevention approach will be extended by connecting to local caring communities and integrating local care services to better meet physical care demands. To support caregivers, small interventions based on Positive Psychology and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy will be used to boost their resilience and well-being.

Partners & Funding

The DemiCare+ consortium consists of eight partners, led by the AIT Centre for Technology Experience, during 3 years.

The project receives funding from the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), the Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development (ZonMW), and Romanian Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI), under the frame of the co-funded partnership of Transforming Health and Care Systems (THCS).
